Sara

Almost two years ago I met a wonderful friend.  There was something about her that I knew was special, even before I really knew much about her at all.  As time passed we began to share our sorrows and our joys, our struggles and our triumphs.  We discovered a mutual love for "yarning," as my Lena calls it, and spent many cozy evenings together with our crochet and knitting.  She loves my children (and they her!) and I love hers.  I know that I can always count on her and hope that she knows that I will be there for her in a heartbeat if ever she needs me.

My dear, dear friend is moving away in two short days.  I will miss the nearness of her, the ability to drop in for a visit, the bright spot of seeing her at church every week, the warmth of her presence.  I will not, however, miss her friendship.  That is something that I will hold dear no matter the miles between us.  I know that in Sara I have found a friend for life.  God has knit our lives together and created a friendship as beautiful as any I've ever experienced.

I love you, Sara.  I am proud of you for all that you have overcome and I'm excited for the changes that God is bringing about for your family.  I will pray for you daily, knowing that God has great things in store for you and yours.

“The LORD bless you and keep you;
the LORD make his face shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”

First Day!

Our big-girl second grader started school on Wednesday.
She picked out her clothes on a recent shopping trip and seems to have embraced the concept of accessorizing:
Love this girl!  I am really going to miss her around here.

This babyhood is going by WAY too fast!

Summer S'Mores!

Does it get any better than this?

I think not!
We had a wonderful (although as always, too short!) visit with our dear friends this weekend as they passed through on their way to living in Canada for the next year.

I've been working for the past several weeks on dolls for the girls.  Each one has two dresses that coordinate with their hair and shoes.  I affectionately dubbed them "the girls" and I prayed for our friends while I worked.  Their baby brother got a caterpillar complete with antennae for chewing.  Nothing was sweeter than watching the girls (and their handsome little brother!) playing with their toys... it made every last blister well worth it!  :)
We love you guys and are so grateful that you came!  Have a safe trip and a wonderful adventure together over the next year!
